Mark Levine

Dr. Mark Levine is a senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and served as the Director of the Energy Division for a decade. During his tenure at LBNL, Dr. Levine established the China Energy Group and Appliance Energy Efficient project and has been a leader in studying energy efficiency. In particular, Dr. Levine has studied and facilitated the development of residential, commercial and appliance energy standards for China, South East Asia and the United States. He is a co-author of the influential 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, which won the Nobel Peace Prize and he was awarded the prestigious Obayashi Prize, for his scholarship on energy use in cities. A Princeton alum (Class of ‘66), Dr. Levine graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Chemistry before pursuing graduate studies at Harvard University and the University of California Berkeley.
