Eduardo Bhatia

Former Senate President, Puerto Rico

Eduardo Bhatia was a part of Princeton’s great class of 1986. He served as the 15th president of the Puerto Rican senate. He was first elected to the Senate in 1996 at the age of 32. During his tenure in the Senate, Bhatia led efforts to rebuild the electric grids following two devastating hurricanes, co-authored the island’s most ambitious climate legislation, which mandated that Puerto Rico must transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050, and tackled education reform. He is currently the John L. Weiberg visiting professor and lecturer in Princeton’s school of public and international affairs.
