Carl Burleson

Carl Burleson served as director of energy and environment at the Federal Aviation Administration and fostered the development of alternative fuels, new lower noise and emission technologies and integrated environment and energy issues into strategies for modernizing the U.S. aviation system. In 2003, Burleson launched the Partnership for Air Transportation Noise and Emission Reduction (PARTNER) Center for Excellence. In 2006, Burleson helped create the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative which created the first new jet fuel standard in two decades in 2009. Burelson was also influential in creating the FAA’s NextGen plan, and served as the U.S. representative to the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Today, Burleson sits on the advisory board for universal hydrogen and continues to advise the FAA, DOT, and other government agencies on the future of aviation and fuels.
